Encourage Child Hygiene With "The Clean Crusaders Campaign"
Making sure young children wash their hands at times can be a problem for many parents and carers of children. Stressing the importance of basic hygiene without alarming young children can be tricky.

Threadworms, a lesson for all the family

To help tackle this problem, the Clean Crusaders Campaign has been developed to help teach children basic hygiene habits in a fun, yet educational, way.

Key messages include the importance of washing and drying hands:

  • after going to the toilet
  • after stroking pets / animals
  • before each meal or preparing food
  • after playing in the garden / sand pit
  • A video also highlights and discourages finger sucking or eating food dropped on the floor. It features two puppet characters, Soap Sud Sally and Dirty Beastie, so the children are entertained as well as educated.

    The Clean Crusader 10 minute video, which uses a snappy song and drama featuring Dirty Beastie and Soap Sud Sally, to convey simple and effective messages can also be ordered.

    The free information pack to support the video is a good introduction to the subject and supplies you with;

  • 1 parenting letter - to be photocopied
  • 2 colouring sheets - to be photocopied
  • 2 sheets of stickers - to hand out to children
  • 1 poster (A3 size) - to display in classroom
  • To be used with children between 4 and 7 years old.
